- The City of Lynwood is named after Lynwood Dairy and Creamery which is named after the farmer’s wife’s maiden name.
- The land was first settled in 1810 by Don Antonio Lugo who had received a land grant of over 29,000 acres of local land.
- Upon Lugo’s death in 1860 the land was divided up amongst his eight children, the area of Lynwood went to his daughter Guadalupe.
- In 1902 the deed for the Lynwood area found its way into the hands of C.H. Sessions where he proceeded to establish a dairy and named it after his wife Ms. Lynn Wood Sessions.
- The dairy was located on what is now Sanborn and Long Beach Blvd.
- Southern Pacific Railroad had a siding in the area that they called the “Lynwood Siding”
- In 1913 over 800 acres of land were opened up for suburban home building.
- Lynwood was incorporated in 1921
