Celebrating United States Marine Corps’ Birthday
On November 10, 1775, a whole 240 years ago our Marine Corps was born. But did you know they that they celebrate their birthday, just like me and you! US Marines serve on land and at sea, known as “land Soldier” their motto is “Semper Fidelis” which means always loyal.
The first ever formal ball was held in Philadelphia in 1925, and has now become an annual tradition. So now every year on the Marine Corps Birthday, there is a formal ball. During this day there is always a cake. The tradition is that the oldest marine receives the biggest piece of the cake while the youngest receives the smallest slice.
We should use this day to reflect, and give thanks to our marines, whether it’s your neighbor, family member or friend past and present. But one thing is for sure, we wold like to wish them a very Happy Birthday, it’s not every day that you turn 240. Let the tradition follow, and we want cake!
